In the Astrakhan region, near the border with Kazakhstan, a resident of Petrozavodsk was detained, who, according to the FSB, planned to go to fight on the side of Ukraine. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the regional department of the FSB.
According to the service, a citizen of Petrozavodsk, being an opponent of the Russian invasion, decided to join an armed formation fighting on the side of Ukraine. In addition, the man bought medicines, ammunition and found people who would help him get to the war zone, according to the FSB.
A criminal case was opened against a resident of Petrozavodsk for preparing to commit high treason (Part 1 of Article 30; article 275 of the Criminal Code).
A few days ago, 20-year-old student Andrey Vasyurenko was arrested in Karelia in the case of «inciting treason». According to investigators, from May to November last year, he “tried to persuade citizens” to “participate [in the war] as part of the forces of Ukraine.”
