A teenager who was persecuted in the case of preparing an attack on a school left Russia

Volgograd teenager Yaroslav Inozemtsev, who was persecuted in connection with the preparations for an attack on a school, left for Russia. The Dozor in Volgograd telegram channel reports this.

Volunteers of the Dozor project helped him leave the country. In a video about his departure, Inozemtsev said that the case against him was fabricated: “I was an ordinary teenager with ordinary hobbies. They decided to make me a terrorist because of my anti-government and anti-Putin posts on social networks.” In addition, the young man said that he was against the war in Ukraine and “against Putin and his corrupt government.”

In July 2022, Inozemtsev was found guilty of attempted terrorist act (Article 205 with the application of part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code), illegal possession of explosives (Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code) and manufacture of explosive devices (Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code). He was given compulsory psychiatric treatment. In January 2023, this decision was approved by the Court of Appeal.

According to investigators, the teenager was going to commit a terrorist attack at the school where he studied. During a search, the security forces found home-made Molotov cocktails and a notebook with recipes for explosive mixtures, and the testimony of Inozemtsev's classmate also appeared in the case. The case was not immediately submitted to the court for consideration — in July 2021, the materials were returned to the prosecutor's office due to numerous violations.

After the initiation of a criminal case in 2021, Inozemtsev was sent to a pre-trial detention center, later the measure of restraint was softened — at first the teenager was under house arrest, and then he was given a ban on certain activities.

Shortly before his arrest, the young man spoke in the “Everyone is worthy of love” group, which he administered, about the reasons for school shootings and terrorist attacks in schools: “Dear like-minded people, in today’s post I would like to consecrate the causes of mass shootings in schools and colleges etc. Several factors play a role here: mental problems (because a healthy person cannot kill another of his own free will), a dysfunctional family (but not always) and, of course, bullying <…> If you see that someone is being humiliated, then help him, it is very simple to do this: talk to him, show him that you stand up for him and that you love him.
