The Indian authorities decided not to violate the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West, including a ceiling on oil prices from the Russian Federation at $60, reports Bloomberg.

Agency sources said that officials in the Indian government have asked banks and traders to adhere to the current restrictions on Russia.

One of the interlocutors said that Indian representatives discussed sanctions in detail with colleagues from the US and other G7 countries on the sidelines of the G20 meeting held in Delhi in early March. He noted that the parties were satisfied with the results of the negotiations.

The price ceiling for Russian oil at $60 per barrel came into force on December 5. Two months later, a $100/bbl price ceiling for oil products from Russia was put in place for products traded at a premium and $45 at a discount to oil.

Earlier in March, a senior US State Department official said that India buys oil from Russia at a price below the ceiling. According to him, this topic is constantly being discussed between the United States and India, as Washington wants to deprive Moscow of the income necessary to maintain the NWO in Ukraine.

According to the International Energy Agency, India last year ousted Europe as the main buyer Russian oil supplied by sea, increasing its imports by 16 times. Raw materials from Russia account for almost 1/3 of India's oil imports.
