To the Central Banks of Russia and Zimbabwe it is necessary to establish an exchange in national currencies, it is possible to ensure trade in gold reserves, believes Christopher Mutswangwa, leader of Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF party.
According to him, the banks of the two countries should find a way for the Russian ruble and the Zimbabwean dollar to be freely convertible . In addition, both states have rich gold reserves. The Russian Federation and Zimbabwe are among the seven countries in terms of gold mining, production volumes are growing, a representative of the ruling party of the republic emphasized. As specified, now Zimbabwe produces 35 tons per year, but they could produce all 50.
Mutswangwa noted that Zimbabwe has been under US sanctions for 22 years, and sanctions restrictions on Russia should not stop trade between countries.
As an example, the politician cited the organization of trade with Belarus — it is conducted through Afreximbank, headquartered in Cairo. This bank is neutral, it is not part of the SWIFT system, it is an African bank.
