Mimosa has ceased to be the main symbol of the holiday
Tulips, roses, gypsophila and alstroemerias have become the most popular flowers that men gave to Russian women on March 8. The average check for a bouquet for International Women's Day this year was 2,500 rubles.
As MK found out, according to one of the popular marketplaces, unit sales of flowers and bouquets for the spring women's holiday this year have grown almost 10 times compared to last year's figures. At the same time, the average cost of the main attribute on March 8 decreased significantly over the year: from 3,194 rubles to 2,502 rubles.
This year, mimosa has ceased to be the main symbol of International Women's Day. Tulips turned out to be the most popular flowers — the demand for them increased by 9.4 times. The second place in sales was occupied by roses — they were bought 8.5 times more often. Then come multi-colored gypsophila, the demand for which increased by 6.2 times.
Alstroemerias, spray roses, peony tulips, orchids and hydrangeas were also actively ordered by buyers to congratulate the ladies. Mimosa also remained in the ranking of the most popular flowers, this year, according to the online platform, it was given 6.7 times more often than a year ago.
Most often, on March 7-8, Russians bought bouquets on the marketplace of 9 or 11 tulips — crimson, white, red or multi-colored. Also of great interest were mimosa in a box with a handle, iridescent gypsophila in a box, bouquets of blue orchids and 11 red roses. Roses were given not only alive: a bouquet of seven multi-colored flowers made from Belgian chocolate was very popular for a gift on March 8.
