
NEW DELHI, Mar 16 India is interested in developing cooperation with Russia in the field of sports, said the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin following a meeting with a delegation from the Olympic Association of India.
«We are for the development of dialogue in all areas of mutual interest, be it professional sports, university sports, football, chess, cricket,» the Russian minister said.
He noted that the Indian side is interested, in particular, in the development of football, athletics, figure skating and swimming.
“So far we are talking about joint training camps and invitations to participate in competitions that will be held in Russia. But if there is an invitation from the Indian side, we are ready to come here, participate and share experience,” Matytsin added.
The Minister of Sports of Russia is in India on a working visit, during which, in particular, he took part in a meeting of heads of departments responsible for the development of physical culture and sports of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
