Russian aircraft can be operated for about ten more years. Such a forecast was given by the Minister of Transport of Russia Vitaly Savelyev during a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Development of Transport Infrastructure.
The head of the department noted that the average age of the fleet of domestic and imported aircraft is now 15 years.
«This means that we will ensure the maintenance of airworthiness for another 10 years and give our Ministry of Industry and Trade time to develop new models of aircraft,» the minister said.
At the same time, Savelyev said that Russian carriers did not switch to practice like this called cannibalization of aircraft, that is, their complete disassembly to obtain spare parts.
According to the minister, of the 1167 aircraft that remained in Russia, not one of them was completely dismantled. At the same time, the liners, according to him, are provided with certified parts, and not «made on the knee.»
After the start of a special military operation, Western lessors demanded the return of aircraft operated by Russian airlines. However, the liners were transferred to the national aircraft register.
Western aviation concerns currently refuse to supply spare parts and service aircraft of Russian carriers.
