MOSCOW, Mar 19 NATO Joint Viking exercises in Norway should send a clear signal to Vladimir Putin that the alliance is ready to repel an attack on the northern flank, writes Focus magazine.
As the newspaper notes, within the framework of the exercises, a scenario similar to the events in Crimea in 2014 was worked out, and the number of troops of the hypothetical enemy and its capabilities almost completely corresponded to the real potential of Russian forces in the region.
Joint Viking is a large-scale winter exercise that takes place every two years in northern Norway. According to the German media, this year they were held from March 9 to 18, 20,000 Norwegian military, as well as soldiers from eight other countries, including the United States, Germany, Canada and France, took part in the maneuvers.
