The rector of the temple tried to book a room via messenger
The rector of the temple in Volokolamsk fell victim to scammers. The priest tried to book a hotel room, but was left without money and rest.
As MK managed to find out, on February 9, the 30-year-old rector of the Nativity of Christ Church decided to book a vacation for a couple of days in one of the park hotels in the Moscow region. The choice fell on the Solnechnogorsk region. Having studied the hotel website, the priest chose a room that completely suited him. The friend with whom the priest was going on vacation also approved the choice.
In order not to miss the opportunity, the priest decided to book a room, but in the «booking» section it was said that this was possible only with full prepayment via messenger. This turn of events did not come as a surprise — through the messenger, the man had previously made various payments. The abbot was sent a link where he was required to enter all the details of a bank card and the amount — 16,400 rubles, which he did. The payment did not go through right away, the site gave an error, but the money was eventually debited. When the priest called the hotel back to confirm the reservation and payment, he was unpleasantly surprised. At the other end of the wire, they said that their hotel did not book rooms at all and, most likely, the holy father fell into the hands of scammers. In the instant messenger itself, they stopped responding to the rector's requests.
Realizing that he had been deceived, the priest received a statement from the bank about debiting money from the account and went to the police with a statement. The police have already begun an investigation into the fraud.
