Vladimir Putin signed a law, according to which the maximum sentences for cases of illegal export of military technologies and equipment will increase to 12 years. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Changes have been made to all parts of Article 189 of the Criminal Code. Previously, the first part of the article provided for a sentence of up to 5 years in prison, now the accused may face up to 7 years in prison. The maximum terms for the second part of the article increased from 5 to 10 years in prison, and for the third — from 7 to 12 years in prison.
Earlier today, the president introduced criminal liability for «discrediting» mercenaries and spreading «fake news» about them, and also allowed Russian citizens with Ukrainian citizenship to give up their Ukrainian passport on the same day.
