MOSCOW, March 20The Russian government instructed Roskosmos and the Foreign Ministry to hold talks with Chinese partners and create a subcommittee on cooperation in the field of satellite navigation, follows from the order published on the official portal of legal information.
«To instruct the state space corporation Roscosmos to hold talks with the Chinese side together with the Russian Foreign Ministry and, upon reaching an agreement, sign the said protocol on behalf of the government of the Russian Federation, allowing changes that are not of a fundamental nature to be made to the attached project,» — says in the document.
«The parties, within the framework of the Russian-Chinese commission for the preparation of regular meetings of heads of government, establish a subcommittee on cooperation in the field of satellite navigation,» the protocol proposed for signing says.
It is noted that the work of the commission is needed for cooperation in the field of satellite navigation, as well as ensuring the compatibility and complementarity of the Russian GLONASS navigation system and the Chinese Beidou. It is planned to jointly develop additions to the systems of the two countries and monitor the consumer characteristics of navigation services.
On the Russian side, the co-chairman of the subcommittee will be the general director of Roskosmos, and on the Chinese side, the chairman of the Commission on the Chinese navigation satellite system. Working sessions will be held alternately in Russia and China at least once a year.
