The Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 19-year-old resident of Astrakhan, who burned the icon of the Mother of God on camera. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the UK.
The young man is accused of insulting the feelings of believers (Part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, in January of this year, an Astrakhan, being near a local shopping center, burned the icon of the Mother of God, filming what was happening on video. Later, the young man published a video on social networks.
According to the Investigative Committee, a criminal case was opened after checking the materials published in the media — in particular, Tsargrad wrote about the incident. On February 7, Tsargrad activists turned to the police “to search for and bring to justice” the Astrakhan. The next day, the security forces detained the young man — on February 9, it became known that a criminal case had been opened against him. In a video published by the UK, the Astrakhan pleaded guilty.

In Chita, in the spring of 2021, a teenager was sentenced to 120 hours of compulsory work for a video of him entering a temple and lighting a candle.
