It has recently become known that the Korean company Hyundai is preparing a new crossover: in mid-February, photographs and most of the characteristics were in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. Later, at the beginning of this month, photo spies were able to catch a prototype SUV without camouflage on the roads (however, only its stern was in the frame). Now, the interior of the future Hyundai novelty has got into their lenses.

The model will probably enter the market under the name Mufasa: on the tailgate of the crossover, which was captured on the certification images, one could see the corresponding inscription. Although the Chinese joint venture Beijing Hyundai may still change its mind (on the prototype, which was run in South Korea, there were no inscriptions at all). Recall that the name Mufasa belonged to the father of Simba, the character of the Disney cartoon «The Lion King».

The crossover also received a multifunction steering wheel with a “flattened” bottom, a gear selector with keys instead of the traditional lever on the central tunnel, as well as a dark finish interior with contrasting red stitching (accent in the design of the seats).
A number of Chinese media suggest that Mufasa will replace the Hyundai ix35 crossover. It is still produced and sold in the Middle Kingdom: for example, the second generation model appeared in 2017, and at the end of 2020 survived & # 65279; massive update. As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, the length of the new SUV is 4475 mm, width — 1850 mm, height — 1665/1681/1685 mm (the figure varies depending on the version), and the distance between the axles is 2680 mm. For comparison, the current Chinese ix35 is longer (4500 mm) and higher (1710 mm), the width is similar, and the wheelbase of this SUV is smaller (2640 mm).
The list of exterior features of the new crossover includes a sloping roof, black pillars, embossed stampings on the sidewalls, a large black radiator grille with a pattern of three-dimensional strokes, massive bumpers, vertical headlight clusters, as well as horseshoe-shaped taillights interconnected into one large elongated an oval across the entire width of the tailgate. we are talking about a 2.0-liter “aspirated” gasoline, the return of which is 160 hp. Models also predict a MHEV version with a 48-volt «electric addition» (however, it is not yet clear whether this will be another modification in addition to the traditional ICE version, or whether the electrified version will be the only one).
