The Attorney General's Office has declared the British Institute of Public Administration an «undesirable organization».
The department claims that the institute «discredits» the authorities, «poses a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order, territorial integrity and security» of Russia. In addition, according to the prosecutor's office, the British organization «fabricated evidence» of Russia's interference in the internal affairs of European countries and organized «Russophobic conferences.»
The Institute for Statecraft is a non-governmental organization whose stated goal is to «renew the practices of public administration.» The institute's website is now down, the main page indicates that all content has been removed due to an investigation into the hacking of the organization's databases and its Integrity Initiative project.
Launched in 2015, the Integrity Initiative is described as “countering disinformation and <…> increasing media literacy and freedom of the media”. Hackers from the Anonymous group published their instructions for combating Russian propaganda and claimed that the project «influenced the politics of other countries.» Sky News wrote that Russian military intelligence could have been involved in the hacking of the website of the Institute of Public Administration.
