MOSCOW, March 22. Canadian singer The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) entered the Guinness Book of Records as the most popular artist in the world, according to the guide's website.
He became the first musician to be listened to by more than 100 million users a month. Tesfaye peaked at 111.4 million listeners.
The Weeknd was first listed in the Guinness Book of Records in 2016. Then his album Starboy was recognized as the most popular on Spotify. The musician also broke the record for being in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 chart among male performers.
The Weeknd is a singer-songwriter, producer and actor. He is the winner of four Grammy awards, twenty Billboard, and an Oscar nominee. In 2015, Tesfaye was nominated for a statuette in the category «Best Original Song» for the track «Earned it», which was featured in the movie «Fifty Shades of Grey».
