MOSCOW, Mar 23 The UK banking system maintains a stable position, including in the liquidity issue, the Bank of England said in a press release.
«According to the Bank of England Financial Policy Committee (FPC), the UK banking system maintains strong capital and liquidity positions and is well positioned to continue to support the economy in a wide range of economic scenarios, including higher rates,» the statement said.
Earlier in March, several major banks closed in the US. The authorities announced support measures, while the volatility also affected the European banking sector. Later, the Swiss National Bank announced that Credit Suisse, which found itself in a crisis, would be taken over by UBS, Switzerland's largest bank is acquiring Credit Suisse for 3 billion Swiss francs ($3.2 billion).
