ROME, Mar 23 The son of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss Artem , arrested in Italy at the request of the United States, disappeared from a Milan apartment where he was under house arrest, the newspaper la Repubblica reported.
The Russian entrepreneur, as noted by the publication, broke the electronic bracelet. At the time of the arrival of the carabinieri, he was no longer in the apartment, now they are looking for a man.
On Tuesday, the Court of Appeal in Milan approved the extradition of Artem Uss to the United States.
Last year, Uss Jr. and five other Russians in the United States were charged with evading sanctions and money laundering, smuggling oil to a Venezuelan company and transferring dual-use products. The governor's son was detained on a US arrest warrant at Milan's Malpensa International Airport on October 17, from where he was about to fly to Turkey. In early December, he was transferred from prison to house arrest.
According to agency sources, after the court decision in favor of extradition, Uss's lawyers were going to appeal against it in the court of cassation. Consideration of this case in the highest instance could take up to several months.
