Milos Bikovic: Proud of working with Russian and Hollywood actors

MOSCOW, March 23, Anna Nekhaeva. The series «Balkan Wind» is being released on the Web — an action movie about the Belgrade crime boss Petar Marash. The project was produced and played the main role by Milos Bikovich. In an interview, he spoke about how he worked with Hollywood stars, what it's like to be a «cultural bridge» between Serbia and Russia, whether he feels at home here, as well as filming in «Challenge» and participation in the new «Kholop».
< strong>— What interested you in «Balkan wind»? Why did you want to play Petar again?
— The story itself, which has already been told in several South Wind projects, inspires me a lot. «Balkan Wind» is part of the whole, but at the same time an independent series. I think any actor in it got quality material, «meat» to play with.

A lot of artists, familiar to me from other works in the cinema, will appear here in new roles.

— How has your hero changed? What new character traits were you interested in playing?

— Petar Marash was a good kid who at some point found himself with one foot in the world of crime. There is hellish logic, if you want to save yourself, you have to dig deeper and deeper. Unfortunately, when Petar realizes this, he can no longer do anything. Each of his efforts only brings him closer to the point of no return.

— Who do the Hollywood races play there? Was it difficult to agree on their participation?
— They have the role of agents, current and former, who work in the interests of companies in various fields. It was not very difficult to reach an agreement. It just required certain conditions to be met.

But at the preparation stage, nuances arose, because our creative team can discuss everything with the artist if there has already been a conversation with an agent. You can’t do this with Hollywood people, communication is only during filming, there are no direct contacts before arrival. You have to get used to this. Otherwise, it's a pleasure to work with them.

— Were there any funny incidents during filming?
— There is a scene in one of the parts of «South Wind» in which I starred with an elderly actor whom I respect very much. He threatens me in this scene. And at this moment I am connected to a medical device that monitors my pulse and pressure. crop-ratio=»0.5625″ data-crop-width=»600″ data-crop-height=»338″ data-source-sid=»not_rian_photo» class=»» />

When my partner pushes me, this device makes some disturbing sounds, and they prevent us from filming. I had to ask the nurse to turn it off. She looks at me warily, as if I'm sick, and asks, «Are you all right?» I say yes». She: «Your pulse and blood pressure rise very sharply.»

This actor and I looked at each other and thought: this is what happens to us when we live our roles!

— What decisions or achievements as a project producer are you proud of?
— For example, an agreement with Russian partners, producers, actors, and, of course, with Hollywood ones too. I had to resolve crisis situations, there are always a lot of them when shooting on location. But the most important thing is the team. We are four main producers of the Serbian part of this project, and we have been together for a long time. Our friendship, relationship seems to me a special achievement, because teamwork has led to success. crop-ratio=»0.5625″ data-crop-width=»600″ data-crop-height=»338″ data-source-sid=»not_rian_photo» class=»» />

— A few years ago you said that you wanted to become a «cultural bridge» between Serbia and Russia. Do you think you succeeded?

— There is no beginning and no end, this work is in full swing all the time. I recommend Serbian actors in Russia, Russian actors in Serbia. I contact agents, producers, we do co-production. I introduce colleagues to each other. I bring Russians to Belgrade, Serbs to Moscow. Projects that have already been filmed are «Balkan Frontier», «Hotel Belgrade», «Balkan Wind».

— About Magomaev, whom you played, they said: «We are, relatively speaking, foreigners, but we have become our own here [in Russia].» How does this manifest itself for you?
To the attention of viewers, journalists and colleagues. Attitude towards people who were not born here, but they are accepted as their own. This feeling is very valuable, and it has become the essence.

— Tell us about the continuation of «Kholop». What is the difference between the first and the second film?
— «Kholop 2» is, in short, like «Kholop», but better. Filming has just begun. The difference is that this is a completely different project. Cannot compare.

Yes, the characters are familiar, there was no need to do casting from scratch, some locations to look for too. But the rest is a completely new project. Another historical period. The elements of the first part that the viewer liked remained, but the plot and story are not at all the same.

I consider Aglaya Tarasova a great comedic actress, she has this gift, and you will see it in the new Kholop!

— Another expected picture is «The Challenge». Who is your hero there?
— My character is interesting to me because he is much calmer than me and understands better what he wants. It is played with sparing colors — so we decided with the director.

— How did you get into the picture?
— I just once said to Klim Shipenko: «Listen, this film, it is already in the history of cinema. Let me at least run there in the third plan, in any role.» He agreed. And then he offered one of the main roles. And I canceled other projects because this film was a priority for me. I am very glad to see Klim again (because we are friends) and shoot with him again. crop-ratio=»0.666666666666667″ data-crop-width=»600″ data-crop-height=»400″ data-source-sid=»not_rian_photo» class=»lazyload» width=»1920″ height=»1280″ decoding =»async» />

— Didn't you regret that you didn't have a chance to visit space yourself?

— Of course, you did. This is such an incredible chance, a miracle that probably happens once in a lifetime. But I'm grateful to be a part of the film. And I am proud of my acquaintance with Klim and Yulia Peresild, whom I consider to be real heroes. Heroism can be in our work, but in extreme cases. And this is the same case.
—But have you experienced weightlessness yet? What was the main thing for you in the role?
— The most important thing is to understand the feelings and thoughts of the character. This is the biggest challenge. You can't compare it to space travel. But I've been on a plane where astronauts train, I've fallen, I've felt weightless, I've been spinning in a centrifuge — an incredible experience for which I am very, very grateful.

— Now filming offers come mainly from which countries?

Everything is as before. Contacted from Europe, but so far nothing serious. Preference is given to those who are interesting to me, whose work and approach I like.
— You said that you refused to participate in Hollywood films. Why?

— Not sure if they were Hollywood films. More like Western. He refused, because a lot of things are filmed in the West. And it's not always good. Sometimes they have a certain message, which, let's say, is not art, there is no constructiveness in it. It's flat and I don't like it. These films are everywhere. I didn't like what was written there and how it was conceived, so I refused.
