
MOSCOW, March 24 A dump truck and a commuter train collided on their way from Dolinsky District to Tomari on Sakhalin, fuel spilled and caught fire, several passengers were injured, there are no dead, said the governor of the Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko.
«The accident provoked a fuel spill and its ignition. According to preliminary information, several passengers received minor injuries, there were no deaths,» Limarenko wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Sakhalin, the train followed the route Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk — Tomari, and the accident occurred three kilometers from the village of Arsentievka at 20:15 (12.15 Moscow time), causing a fire in the driver's cab. 16 rescuers and five units of equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences of the incident.
Limarenko added that two buses were sent to the scene of the accident to evacuate people, there were 99 people on the train. According to him, the fire in the train was eliminated, and an additional locomotive will go to the depot to tow it.
