
SIMFEROPOL, Mar 24The introduction of the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in the Zaporizhia region will attract investors to the management of abandoned enterprises and help restore the industrial and transport infrastructure of the region, Andriy Kozenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers for Economics and Finance of the Zaporizhia region, said.
The Cabinet of Ministers is going to submit to the State Duma a draft law on the creation of a free economic zone in new regions, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during a report to the State Duma on Thursday.
«In the Zaporozhye region, a lot of work has been done to identify objects that require restoration, sites suitable for the implementation of new projects. Negotiations are underway with potential investors. We continue to restore the industrial and transport infrastructure in the territory, and the opportunities of the special economic zone will become an additional help in this process» — said Kozenko.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, about 1,500 objects abandoned by previous managers have been identified and registered in the Zaporozhye region, including buildings, structures and integral property complexes. Of these, 700 property complexes are transferred to investors who are ready to develop the region's economic potential and restore the region's infrastructure.
«The creation of a free economic zone in the Zaporozhye region will give businesses the opportunity to develop under the conditions of tax, customs and other benefits. Moreover, entrepreneurs who fall under the sanctions will have access to support measures provided for by the free economic zone, compensation mechanisms,» Kozenko said.
The free economic zone has proven itself in the Crimea, he added.
