The circumstances of the last battle of the commander of the reconnaissance group of the 10th separate special forces brigade, Captain Ivan Rekhovsky, were reported by the Military Informant Telegram channel. The special forces officer died in July 2022. In March 2023, he was presented with the title of Hero of Russia (posthumously). Last week, Governor of the Volgograd Region Andrey Bocharov handed over the Gold Star of a Hero to Andrey Rekhovsky's mother.
According to the Telegram channel, on July 2, 2022, Andrey Rekhovsky's group moved to help one of the special forces units that was ambushed. The commandos moved on foot to the indicated area. Rekhovsky was the first in the head patrol. On the way, two anti-personnel fragmentation mines MON-50 were discovered and neutralized.
At the very stronghold of the enemy, Rekhovsky ran into a militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who asked our people: “Who are they?”. “Rekhovsky, — informs the information resource, — instantly assessing the situation, he answered, they say, “his own, his own”, with a smile, turning to the group gave the command, and also turning back to the enemy with a smile immediately laid him down. As the channel writes, Rekhovsky personally neutralized the first rounds of three VESA soldiers.
During the further battle, Captain Rekhovsky received a double bullet wound. He died on the battlefield. The subordinates pulled the commander out and evacuated him to the base.
Later, from the radio interception of enemy communications, it became known that there were up to 40 military men at the stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were preparing an ambush for our forces. Enemy losses amounted to ten people. Another reconnaissance sniper Corporal Vadim Zakharchenko, who was also nominated for the title of Hero of Russia, also died in Rekhovsky’s group.
