SIMFEROPOL, Mar 24 Head of the Committee of the Crimean Parliament on public diplomacy and interethnic relations, Yuriy Gempel called the statement of the Ukrainian intelligence about the alleged evacuation from Crimea information terrorism.
Earlier, the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, citing its representative Andriy Yusov, spread a message that the Crimean authorities had allegedly begun the evacuation of the population of the peninsula. Yusov said Ukraine would regain control of Crimea «in the near future» and urged those who work for Russia to leave the peninsula. In turn, State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Mikhail Sheremet denied this statement.
«Apparently, another follower of Goebels appeared in Ukraine (Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany Joseph Goebbels — ed.). This can come to a person with a wild imagination or a drug addict. Information terrorism of the Kiev organized crime group will not work. Idiot statements will not be able to sow panic among Crimeans,» Hempel said.
According to him, the ruling elite headed by Volodymyr Zelensky and everyone who works for the United States should immediately leave Ukraine.
Crimea became a Russian region in March 2014 following a referendum following a coup in Ukraine. In the 2014 referendum, 96.77% of voters in Crimea and 95.6% in Sevastopol were in favor of joining Russia. Ukraine still considers Crimea its temporarily occupied territory, many Western countries support Kyiv on this issue. For its part, the Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea voted for democratic reunification with Russia, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the issue of Crimea «is finally closed.»
