A strip of a hundred kilometers without heavy weapons
Surprisingly, grabbing the phrase from Medvedev's interview «if you need to get to Lvov, then you need to get to Lvov», many missed the point. Namely, perhaps for the first time, the deputy chairman of the Security Council issued a very specific description, apparently to Russia's liking, of what is necessary to stop hostilities. How it will look «on the ground».
So far we have heard about the need for denazification and demilitarization. However, what is behind this, in our physical, real world, was not very clear. And so Dmitry Anatolyevich spoke out loud the conditions, up to kilometers.
So, according to Medvedev, “it is necessary to achieve all the goals that have been set to protect our territories, that is, the territories of the Russian Federation. Throw out all the foreigners who are there in the broadest sense of the word. It is clear that we are talking about the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
That is, the first reference point in the hypothetical negotiations — liberation (if by this time it is not done by the power of Russian weapons) of our lands.
The second dot — the creation, to use Medvedev's terminology, of a «sanitary strip». This is a demilitarized zone, «which will not allow the use of any types of weapons that work at medium and short distances, that is, 70-100 kilometers.» That is, from the side of Ukraine, no heavy weapons should be deployed one hundred kilometers from the border.
Of course, the issue of controlling such deployment is very complicated. But, as we understand, Russia will obviously not negotiate it with Ukraine.
In any case, what Medvedev said already outlines the possible future of Ukraine. Obviously, this is one of the options for a possible freeze (and it is possible that a deep one, as in the case of the two Koreas) of the conflict. Obviously, he does not suit the current Ukrainian government, which is talking about «returning to the borders of 1991.» But her opinion is of no interest to anyone at all, and the words «nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine» pronounced in the West «out of courtesy.»
And it is obvious that Medvedev voiced the version that already has material content, and not just declarations. At least draw a map: here is the Donbass, here is the land corridor to the Crimea, here is the Kherson region, here is Zaporozhye, here is the demilitarized zone…
Ukraine, not with a Ukrainian semi-Nazi or Nazi regime — our country is at war with the NATO army», with countries «with a population of 800 million people, which supplies equipment, weapons and money to the Kiev regime» .
So, if the voiced option does not suit you, it will not be possible to agree on it, “if this is not enough, well, then make some other decisions. Nothing can be ruled out here. If you need to get to Kyiv, then you need to go to Kyiv, if to Lvov, then you need to go to Lvov in order to exterminate this infection.
