MOSCOW, March 24 Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev discussed issues of developing cooperation in the gas sector, the company said.
«Today Astana hosted a bilateral working meeting between Alexei Miller, Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprom PJSC, and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan,» the Gazprom Telegram channel said in a statement.
«At the meeting, issues of developing cooperation in the gas sector were discussed in detail,» it adds.
In November last year, Russia proposed to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to create a «tripartite gas union» involving the transportation of Russian gas through the territories of these countries. In January 2023, Gazprom signed bilateral roadmaps for cooperation in the gas industry with the government of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
Tashkent specified that the document provides for the transit of Russian gas through the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline passing through the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The main terms of supply have not yet been approved.
Gas pipelines of the transcontinental system «Central Asia-Center» pass through the territories of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Gas was supplied via pipelines to Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia and flowed into a single gas pipeline that supplied fuel to European countries.
