
PARIS, Mar 25 Climate activists Scientist Rebellion and Extinction Rebellion blocked the entrance to the private departure area at the airport in the Dutch city of Eindhoven on Saturday, the police detained 80 people, reports NL Times.
Climate activists on Saturday temporarily blocked entry to the private departures area of Eindhoven Airport with bicycles. They called for a ban on private jets and an end to short flights.
«A private jet emits many times more greenhouse gases than a regular commercial aircraft. Therefore, Eindhoven Airport should no longer allow private flights,» Harald Buitendijk, a spokesman for Scientist Rebellion, was quoted as saying.
According to the police, about 80 people were detained.
