ANKARA, Mar 25 Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he had discussed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the processing of Russian grain into flour in Turkey for delivery to countries in need.
Formerly, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that he had agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the possibility of sending free Russian grain and fertilizers to the starving countries of Africa. Putin pointed out in early September last year that the West exports most Ukrainian grain to its own states, and not to needy countries in Africa. He stated that Moscow was ready to supply the poorest countries free of charge with the entire volume of grain that was intended for them under the grain deal.
«Before I came here, I had talks (by telephone) with the esteemed Mr. President of Russia Putin. In the context of appreciation for our mediation efforts in Ukraine, I heard from them themselves how they follow the elections in Turkey. They (the Russian side) want us to supply grain (Russian) to needy countries, and we will process them into flour and deliver poor countries in Africa. See what is being watched in Russia and what some of our circles are watching,» Erdogan said, speaking in Istanbul on Saturday.
