Mobile operator Tele2 optimizes infrastructure operation

MOSCOW, Mar 27 Russian mobile operator Tele2 is optimizing the operation of its existing infrastructure by increasing the antenna height, which allows increasing the quality of the network without the need to build new facilities, according to the operator.
«Tele2 has optimized the operation of the existing infrastructure by increasing the height of the antenna suspension by an average of 16 meters. Now the project covers more than 1,000 infrastructure facilities. Tele2 technical specialists have identified locations with potential for expanding coverage: doubling the height of the suspension helped to increase network throughput and performance. This allows to reduce capital costs and improve the quality of mobile Internet for customers not by building new facilities, but by achieving the greatest efficiency on the existing infrastructure,» the operator said.

It is noted that after optimization, the traffic processed by the base station increased by an average of 47%.
«It (the project — ed.) covers 61 regions of Russia and so far includes 1020 positions — technical specialists are constantly analyzing the operation of the network, and the list of objects can be supplemented. Now the company has implemented the project by almost a third — engineers have transferred equipment at 320 objects When optimizing the Tele2 network, it will focus on Moscow and the region (250 infrastructure facilities at the end of the year), Baikal and the Far East (149), the Urals (121) and Siberia (113),» the company added.
In April 2022, Finnish telecom equipment manufacturers Nokia and Swedish Ericsson announced the suspension of their activities in Russia. In August, the media reported that companies would leave the country before the end of the year.
