This is a section of the federal highway in the Tula region. The Avtodor state company is going to complete work on the roadway in June this year.
The M-4 Don highway is one of those toll roads that are in trust management of Avtodor. The M-4 route is familiar to many residents of the Russian Federation, because they use it to get to local resorts located on the Black Sea coast. Repair work is periodically carried out on the popular route, which allows the roadbed to correspond to the declared level. The state-owned company will soon start repairing three bridges located on a section of a toll road in the Tula region.
According to the plan, contractors will start work on the bridges this week (the state-owned company promised that repairs would begin before the end of this month). We are talking about two bridges across dry land — on the 276th and 278th kilometers of the M-4 Don highway, as well as on the bridge over the beam at the 281st kilometer. Work on the roadway of all three structures is scheduled to be completed in a few months, in June, with the expectation to be in time before the peak of the holiday season.
At the same time, Avtodor plans to complete the repair work on three bridges in the Tula region at the end of this year. In the course of work, contractors must dismantle the old cones of the embankment, and then carry out the installation of new ones. Then the concrete surfaces of the supports and superstructures will be restored, the structural elements of the bridge deck will be replaced — the upper and lower layers of the coating, waterproofing, expansion joints. After that, bridgemen will install a new barrier and railing, which will increase the level of security.
In the near future, drivers passing through these sections will have to face “temporary inconveniences”. While the work on the roadway will last, the bridgemen will close traffic on all three bridges towards Voronezh. So the passage of cars in both directions will be organized along two lanes of neighboring structures, and a temporarily reduced speed limit of 50 km/h will be introduced here.
Recall that in 2021, a large-scale reconstruction was completed on the section of the M-4 Don toll highway in the Tula region: it involved the elimination of the so-called “Tula hills” in the segment from 275 to 287 kilometers (apparently, bridges that will soon be sent to repairs are included in this section of the route). As part of that reconstruction, the task of the road builders was to remove sharp elevation changes — they removed some of the soil in the «high places» and made an embankment where the road passed below.
The toll road continues to be upgraded. One of the new sections, which is planned to be put into operation soon, will be the bypass of the city of Aksai in the Rostov region. As Avtodor previously reported, work on this section of the road should be completed by the coming summer (1.5 years ahead of schedule). It should be noted that Aksai bypass (total length — 35 km) includes three transport interchanges, eight overpasses and five bridges, while one of them passes through the Don River (it stretches for 1901.34 meters).
