MOSCOW, 27 Mar. The first artifact out of more than 4,000 discovered at the site of the Battle of Judgment in 1555 was recreated by Vladimir Terekhov, a Tula reenactor, head of the Svarga military history club, long-term participant and expert at the Kulikovo Field military history festival. The master himself spoke about the features of the weapon.
Terekhov, according to him, saw the original artifact found by archaeologists in the Oryol land in the fall of 2021 in a news item and immediately decided to reproduce it in his workshop.

"This ax is distinguished by the decor of the butt of vertical notches, which, when viewed from above, form a wavy edge. On the back of the butt there is another interesting detail — an apple with notches on a faceted stem, which could have both an aesthetic and a practical combat function, «said Vladimir Terekhov.

Turning to the archaeologists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the reenactor received a photo and a technical drawing with the dimensions of the weapon. The work, according to the master, was quite difficult and took about 40 hours. As the reenactor emphasized, the replica of the ax is not a weapon, since it is not sharpened and not planted on the handle.
weapons of a similar shape were found both in Russia and in the Crimea. The ax most likely belonged to not a simple warrior, but not a very noble one either, since it does not have parts made of precious metals,» Terekhov explained.
