Ukraine demanded from global energy giants to share profits

MOSCOW, Mar 30 The world's largest commodity companies should share with Ukraine their excess profits received due to the conflict, said the head of the Ministry of Energy of the country Herman Galushchenko in an interview with Politico.< br />“Many energy companies are making huge windfall profits because of the war. We have estimated it at over $200 billion. <…> I think it would be fair to share this money with Ukraine. I mean, to help us rebuild the energy sector,” the Ukrainian official said.
As the publication notes, the amount named by Galushko is often referred to as the profit for 2022 of the five leading companies — BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Total and Shell.

The minister also urged the West to «close loopholes» in the sanctions relating to the sale of Russian energy resources. According to him, Kyiv can provide alternative nuclear fuel so that EU countries can get rid of dependence on supplies from Russia.
