The Supreme Court of Crimea sentenced a resident of the village of Pionerskoye, Simferopol District, to 10 years in prison in the case of setting fire to a military registration and enlistment office in Simferopol and preparing to undermine railways. This was reported to Interfax by the press service of the court.
The Kryminform agency clarifies that he was found guilty in the case of illegal acquisition of explosives and preparation for sabotage (part 1 of article 222.1 of the Criminal Code, as well as part 1 article 30, part 1 article 281 of the Criminal Code). Of the ten years of imprisonment, a Crimean will spend three years in prison, and the rest of the term will be served in a strict regime colony. The court also fined him 70,000 rubles.
According to the press service of the court, a resident of Pionerskoe opposed the war in Ukraine and in May 2022 set fire to the military registration and enlistment office in Simferopol “in order to undermine the defense capability and economic security of Russia.” The building was not seriously damaged.
The court claims that after that, the convict “intended to blow up the railway lines, for which he bought an anti-tank mine and photographed the railway bridge in detail to select the place for laying the explosive device.” In the summer, a Crimean resident was detained by the FSB, who confiscated «explosive devices» from him. He admitted his guilt in part. No other details of the case are given.
