MOSCOW, March 30 AvtoVAZ postpones the corporate vacation of employees to an earlier date — it will take place from May 29 to June 19 instead of three weeks from July 24; this decision was made in order not to introduce downtime due to a disruption in the supply of components, the company said.
AvtoVAZ explained that in the spring of 2023, a number of component suppliers were notified of the termination of supplies and violated existing agreements to maintain supplies in 2023. «Because of this, the non-stop production of complete vehicles will be impossible from the second half of May 2023,» the statement said.
«In the current situation, the company's management decided not to introduce downtime for all lines, which would lead to a sharp drop in wages, but to postpone the paid unified corporate leave (previously scheduled for three weeks from July 24) to the period from May 29 to June 19» , the company said.
Such a measure gives AvtoVAZ time to «validate alternative parts and assemblies», as well as accumulate their stock to resume production at the end of June, the company said. At the same time, the company does not revise the plan for the production of more than 400 thousand cars in 2023, it remains in force.
AvtoVAZ owns production sites in Tolyatti, Izhevsk and St. Petersburg. In mid-May last year, the French Renault transferred its stake in AvtoVAZ (67.69%) to the state property of the Russian Federation. Now the brand consists of four families of models: Vesta, Largus, Granta and Niva. Sales of brand vehicles in 2022 amounted to 188.6 thousand vehicles (-46% compared to 2021).
