Officers of the FSB and Center «E» detained a 45-year-old Ukrainian citizen living in Podolsk on suspicion of setting fire to railway equipment. This was reported to RBC by a source close to the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow Region.
The information was also confirmed by a source familiar with the case file.
According to RBC sources, on February 3, a citizen of Ukraine, «acting as part of an organized group», set fire to the control and distribution device of the company «Rosseti Moscow Region — Southern Electric Networks» on the stretch between the stations Kutuzovskaya and Vesennyaya Kursk direction.
A criminal case has been initiated on sabotage (point «a» of part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code). This article assumes imprisonment for a term of 12 to 20 years. Whether the detainee was given a measure of restraint is unknown.
In February, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested 45-year-old Ukrainian citizen Sergei Karmazin on suspicion of sabotage on a railway in the Moscow region. Prior to this, the FSB reported on the detention of a Ukrainian who, on the instructions of the SBU, set fire to two cabinets for signaling, centralization and automatic blocking.
In early March, the Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow extended until June 12 the term of arrest for 20-year-old Yevgeny Elizarov, who is also charged with an article on sabotage. According to investigators, on December 8, a young man set fire to a metal cabinet at the Moscow-Sortirovochnaya station. On January 30, the FSB reported the detention of three eighth-graders due to damaged railway tracks in the Moscow region.
