OMSK, March 31 The investigation charged the deputy director of the Omsk recreation center «Politotdel» after the death of a schoolboy who drowned in a water park, the press service of the SUSK for the Omsk region said on Friday.
According to the investigation, the 49-year-old manager did not ensure that safety standards were fully observed in the water park: unqualified instructors and lifeguards worked in the pool, with no work experience and no training.
«In this connection, on May 26, 2022, a 14-year-old boy, who practically did not know how to swim, drowned while riding down the slide of the pool. The teenager was in a group of 20 classmates, accompanied by two adults. Despite the fact that on that day there were more than 100 visitors and five instructors, the latter were not officially employed and did not take courses in rescuing drowning people and first aid, they did not provide safety instructions to children, they did not offer any life-saving equipment,» the SUSK explained.
Children were the first to notice the drowned boy. It was not possible to save the child, the ambulance doctors who arrived declared his death. A criminal case has been initiated against the manager under the article «Provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers, which negligently caused the death of a person.» The man pleaded not guilty. The case was sent to the Lyubinsky District Court of the Omsk Region for consideration.
Parents filed for compensation for non-pecuniary damage: since they are divorced, 2.5 million rubles from the mother and 1.5 million from the father.
