The mother of a schoolgirl from the Tula region who drew an anti-war drawing said she plans to take her away from a shelter

Olga Sitchikhina, the mother of schoolgirl Masha Moskaleva from the Tula region, who drew an anti-war drawing in class, told 7×7 that she plans to take her away from the orphanage.

Sitchikhina, who has lived in another region for the past few years , in the Tambov region, noted that the guardianship authorities had already examined her house. She herself now works as a security guard and goes to work in Moscow.

“I intend to stay at home, and my husband and brother will work, no one will sit without money. I have a big garden,” the woman said. She added that she would not forbid the girl to see her father, as he limited their communication, although he was going to “beat off her politics, anti-propaganda and drawings.”

The support group of the Moskalev family in a telegram noted that Sitchikhina had previously refused to take the child when she was approached with this question. Children's Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova argued that Masha Moskaleva «now remains in [the orphanage] at the request» of her mother, because «the relationship between them is complicated.»

The security forces drew attention to the Moskalev family from the city of Yefremov in April 2022, when a sixth-grader Masha drew a drawing against the war in Ukraine at an art lesson. The teachers called the police, and then the FSB officers also came to the school.

Her father Aleksey was first fined because of a comment about the Russian military in Odnoklassniki (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), and at the end of 2022 a criminal case was opened against him for «discrediting» the army because of a post about murders in Buche (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code).

53-year-old Aleksey Moskalev, who bred ornamental birds, raised his daughter alone. When he was detained again in March 2023 to be placed under house arrest pending trial, the child was sent to social rehabilitation center for minors No. 5 in Efremov. Visitors were not allowed to see the girl.

The Commission on Juvenile Affairs filed a lawsuit to limit the rights of both parents, the next meeting is scheduled for April 6. Sitchikhina noted that she was going to participate in the meeting via video link. She was absent from the meeting on March 15.

Moskalev's verdict was announced on March 28, he was sentenced to two years in a penal colony. There was no Tula at the announcement, as he escaped from house arrest. The next day he was detained in Minsk.
