MOSCOW, Mar 29 Australian meat company Vow has used mammoth biomaterials to make meatballs from the ancient animal in a lab, the Guardian writes.
It is noted that the company worked on the creation of mammoth muscle protein together with Professor Ernst Wolvetang from the Australian Institute of Bioengineering at the University of Queensland.
«We haven't seen this protein for thousands of years… So we have no idea how our immune system will react when we eat it. But if we did it again, we certainly could.» it is in such a way that it (the meat) is more acceptable to the regulators,» Volvetang said.
According to the publication, the goal of the project is to demonstrate the «potential of meat» grown from cells without slaughtering animals.
