NIZHNY NOVGOROD, 4 Apr. A man with a knife robbed a village store clerk to return to prison, and scattered money on the street, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Nizhny Novgorod region reports.
On the evening of April 1, the police received a report that a shopkeeper had been attacked with a knife in a store on Lenina Street in the workers' settlement of Buturlino.
«The police officers who arrived at the scene detained the attacker, who did not try to escape. The man told the police that he went into the store, put a folding knife to the seller's neck and asked him to hand over the cash in the cash register. After committing the crime, he went outside, threw away the money and stayed to wait for the police,» the statement said.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery). «Communicating with the police, the man admitted that he decided to commit a crime because he wanted to go to jail,» the report says. The man is taken into custody, he can be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 8 years.
