A building in the central district of Karakoy began to collapse in the morning, and by 15.00 local time it completely collapsed, dust covered the entire street. According to the agency, repairs were carried out in the building.
Due to the threat of collapse, the movement of trams was suspended in the morning, the street where the building is located was partially blocked.
Oktay Özel, the head of the department of cultural values of the Istanbul City Hall, said that in 2015 permission was issued to start the restoration of the building, but its owner did not start it.
No casualties reported in the incident.
