MOSCOW, 4 Apr. The fifth Shrek cartoon has been put into development, according to an interview with Christopher Meledanri for Variety.
He's a creative partner at DreamWorks Animation's reboot of a franchise about an ogre who marries a princess. He will have to collect the cast that participated in the dubbing of previous films: Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona) and Eddie Murphy (Donkey).
«Negotiations are just beginning. And so far everything suggests that the artists really want to return (to their roles — Approx. ed.)», Meledanri said.
The first film in the franchise was released in 2001. The fourth is in 2010. Over the years, the heroes managed to get families. Shrek and Fiona have children. The parents were the Donkey and the dragon.
There were also two spin-offs about Puss in Boots voiced by Antonio Banderas. His beloved Kitty Softpaw speaks in the voice of Salma Hayek.
