More than 26 billion rubles were allocated for geological exploration in Yakutia

YAKUTSK, April 5 More than 26 billion rubles have been allocated to search for precious metal deposits in Yakutia over five years, the press service of the head and government of the republic reports.
According to the Minister of Industry and Geology of the Republic, Maxim Tereshchenko, the main extraction of precious metals is carried out in the Aldan, Olekminsky and Oymyakonsky regions of Yakutia. Companies are also showing interest in exploring new territories, so most of the exploration funding comes from them.
«More than 26 billion rubles were allocated to search for deposits of precious metals over the course of five years. Yakutia was able to increase gold reserves by 229 tons, and silver reserves by 1,498 tons, through geological exploration,» Tereshchenko is quoted as saying.
Tereshchenko said that annually gold mining companies send an average of about 9-10 billion rubles in taxes to the regional budget. At the end of 2022, Yakutia mined about 50 tons of gold, which successfully consolidated its leadership in the country. «The country is also implementing a new project, the Aldan Industrial Cluster, thanks to which industrial enterprises plan to increase the extraction and processing of minerals. To date, investors have confirmed their interest in participating,» the press service added.
It was previously reported that the export of coal from Yakutia to the market of the Asia-Pacific region in 2022 exceeded the figures for 2021 and amounted to about 26 million tons. The industrial growth of the region over the past year amounted to 10%, which is the best indicator in the country.
