MOSCOW, April 6 Acting Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo proposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to create an agro-industrial cluster in the region, the head of state supported the idea.
«Agriculture is well established, but we have a lack of vegetable stores, refrigerators that could store these products on the territory until the summer … We need year-round ones. Famous Kherson products — tomatoes, watermelons, grapes, all this could go further (to go) to the entire territory of the Russian Federation Therefore, there is a proposal … to follow the path of creating an agro-industrial cluster, which would include processing, storage and further transportation,» Saldo said during a meeting with Putin.
«Do you mean the creation of a state cluster or a private one?» — said the president.
The Acting Governor explained that it is possible to create an agricultural cluster based on public-private partnership. “They don’t need very large investments, but they will pay off in the next two years … An amount of about 25 billion (rubles) is needed to build,” said Saldo.
In his opinion, this will lead to equalization of prices in the territory of the Kherson region and will ensure supplies to the all-Russian market.
«Very good. And for Russia as a whole it is very useful, and for the Kherson region it is doubly-triple, since this is the main type of production. Well, we will definitely help,» Putin summed up.
