Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters during a briefing that the country's leadership had not considered the issue of lifting the moratorium on the death penalty. Earlier today, it was reported about the corresponding initiative of the leader of the Duma faction “SR-ZP” Sergei Mironov, with which he appealed to the Constitutional Court.
“The Kremlin has no position and this issue is not discussed in our country. In different periods, it has been repeatedly raised, but so far no decisions have been made, ”Peskov said.
Earlier, it was reported that the process of introducing a moratorium on the death penalty in the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation had begun.
