HANOI, Apr 6Russia and Vietnam will approve a long-term plan for the development of bilateral cooperation, designed for the period up to 2030, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko told Russian journalists on the sidelines of the Russian-Vietnamese business forum held in Hanoi on Thursday.
«As for trade and economic relations, I can say that this is a sleeping giant, given the economies of our countries, given our attitude towards fraternal partnerships,» the Deputy Prime Minister said. According to him, the parties see a huge potential for doubling the trade turnover to $10 billion by 2025, which is based on the calculation of «giant projects that our flagship companies, such as Zarubezhneft, Gazprom, Novatek and Russian Railways, are ready to implement here. «.
At the same time, Chernyshenko stressed the importance of creating in the very near future favorable conditions for financial mutual settlements in national currencies, to ensure unhindered logistics of goods and passengers between the two countries and to ensure a preferential, simplified visa regime for citizens of Russia and Vietnam.
«We have set really very ambitious goals, but they are achievable. We agreed that a very detailed plan until 2030, like a roadmap, will be made, which will include activities in three main areas: the first is a general system, which will allow making payments in national currencies; the second is the facilitation of the visa regime and the third, of course, logistics,» the Deputy Prime Minister said.
