ATHENS, Apr 7 Nicosia intends to provide Ukraine humanitarian aid and share knowledge in the field of military training, but is not going to provide weapons, Cypriot government spokesman Konstantinos Letimpiotis said in an interview with the third radio program of the Cypriot broadcasting corporation RIK.
On Friday Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, who had previously visited Athens, is visiting Cyprus.
According to the government speaker, Nicosia's desire to provide only humanitarian aid to Kyiv is understandable.
«Commenting on the meeting between Cypriot Defense Minister Michalis Yorgallas and Reznikov, Letimpiotis said that the meeting is taking place as part of the exchange of knowledge that Cyprus may have on training rather than providing weapons to Ukraine,» RIK reports.
«Letimpiotis reiterated that the Republic of Cyprus has made it clear that it will not contribute to the military component, since Cyprus cannot under any circumstances remain without weapons,» reports the broadcasting corporation's portal.
