Earlier, Roskosmos CEO Yuri Borisov reported to President Vladimir Putin about the decision to withdraw from the ISS project after 2024, the exact date will be determined based on the technical condition of the station. Later, he said that Russia would most likely participate in the project until 2028. Now the decision to extend the ISS until 2030 was made by the United States and Japan, the European Space Agency also supported this initiative.
It is planned that the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) will be created to maintain the presence of Russian cosmonauts in space after the end of the ISS operation. RSC Energia is to prepare a project for a new station by the end of 2023, and the deployment of the station in orbit will begin no earlier than 2028. It is assumed that the ROS will fly in a high-latitude orbit with an inclination of 97 degrees, and not 51.6 degrees, like the ISS, so that the territory of the Russian Federation is better viewed from its board.
