MOSCOW, April 6 The first Chinese BAIC dealership in Russia — BAIC Major — has opened in Moscow, a correspondent reports. Sales of brand cars will start in 2-3 weeks, Vitaly Ryabkin, CEO of BAIC in the Russian Federation, told reporters.
Three models of the brand were presented at the showroom: the US Plus sedan, the X35 crossover and the BJ 40 SUV. Their prices start at 1.7 million rubles, 1.69 million rubles and 3.76 million rubles, respectively. The new BAIC Major dealer center is located 9 kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road along Novorizhskoye Highway. The total area of the showroom is 760 square meters.
«Everything that concerns the sedan and X35, we think it will take us 2-3 weeks to start selling these cars. Everything that concerns the BJ40 frame SUV — let's count on 4-5 weeks, maybe 6,» Ryabkin said, answering to the question about the start of sales of new products.
At the same time, he clarified that the pre-order for new items can be issued from today.
Now two BAIC models are being assembled at Avtotor: the U5 Plus sedan and the X35 crossover. By the end of the year, five more new products will be on the conveyor. Production is carried out in the industrial assembly mode on the basis of a welded and painted body with partial localization of the first level components. Starting from 2024, it is planned to set up full-cycle production with welding and painting of bodies, followed by the localization of auto components.
BAIC is one of the largest state-owned automotive groups in China. The brand's product line includes sedans, SUVs, crossovers and commercial vehicles.
