St. PETERSBURG, April 8 A court in St. Petersburg has taken into custody a participant in a road conflict who publicly insulted Christians and started a brawl with policemen, the press service of the Main Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the city.
“Today, April 8, 2023, the court granted the petition of the investigation to elect a preventive measure in the form of detention against the accused born in 1979,” the press service emphasized.
The video of the incident appeared earlier in social networks: it shows how the driver of Hyundai Solaris cuts off the author of the video, standing at a traffic light, and utters an expressive tirade against «Christians, Russians.» He called them fascists and accused them of living «at the expense of Caucasians.»
From the release of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, it follows that the man's words about Christians received legal qualification. As a result, a criminal case was opened against him for insulting the religious feelings of believers, since the hooligan's tirade contained «a hostile attitude towards a group of persons united by belonging to a religion.»
As reported by the Investigative Committee, the incident occurred on March 28 near the house 39 along Komendantskiy avenue. Later that day, traffic police inspectors tried to detain the brawler.
