In the south of France, in the center of Marseille, a four-story residential building collapsed and caught fire. Agence France-Presse reports. The mayor of the city, Benoit Payan, said that the tragedy happened on Tivoli Street. There, along with building number 17, two neighboring ones collapsed — 15 and 19.
The fire that arose as a result of the collapse prevents rescuers from using dogs to search for victims under the rubble. According to a representative of the fire service, 100 rescuers are working on the spot.
People from neighboring houses were evacuated. Now they are trying to put out the fire. Neither the exact number of victims nor the cause of the collapse is known yet.
