An unexpected exhibit is a wall newspaper. It was created in the 9th department of OKB-1 for the new year 1965. «Practically everything that flew in the first decades of the space age was designed there,» Vladimir Bugrov, lead designer of OKB-1, told reporters.
The wall newspaper presented at the exhibition looks like a stylish comic book, in which events in the history of space are encrypted. For example, they talk about work on an interplanetary ship for an expedition to the Moon and Mars.
“The hut on chicken legs is a lunar landing ship. Elka is a rocket that was developed for an expedition to Mars,” explains Vladimir Evgrafovich.
Father Frost is Vasily Pavlovich Mishin, he carries “gifts” — edits to refine the ship. There are also cosmonauts — Oleg Makarov and Konstantin Feoktistov, who became the first civilian in orbit.
The design of the exhibition is stylized as an equipment storage. Therefore, the exhibits are on tables, in special cells or hung on a grid. Among them are mock-ups of the engine of the Nauka module and lunar bases. The latter are similar to Arctic bases. You can also look at the sketches of the interior decoration of the ships, made by Galina Balasheva. Everything was taken into account. Even what kind of view opens from the windows to the Earth.

Another interesting layout is the Nudelman Cannon. «This is the first and only projectile weapon in history used in outer space,» the description of the exhibit explains.
There are cells dedicated to people. They contain documents and personal belongings. One of the compartments tells about the inventor Friedrich Zander, his works were devoted to the exploration of Mars.

Another cell is about Sergei Korolev. His savings book is on display. «At the time of his death, it had 18 rubles on it,» says Olesya Semyonova, curator of the exhibition.
Romantic exhibit — a bouquet of wire. Such a gift to his wife in space was made by Oleg Artemyev.
Look in the cells for a player that burned down in the first accident in the history of modern Russia in manned cosmonautics. It happened in 2018 at the launch of the ship. The emergency rescue system worked — the pilots survived. “But the household compartment, in which the astronauts’ personal belongings were raised, fell to Earth,” says Olesya Semenova.

Pilots take not only gadgets into orbit. Cosmonaut Roman Yuryevich Romanenko said at the opening of the exhibition that sometimes acquaintances ask pilots to take their wedding rings with them. Cosmonauts collect personal belongings a month and a half before departure — the items still have to be checked and approved for the flight. And the weight of luggage should not exceed a kilogram.
The exhibition «Museum of Cosmonautics: Model for Assembly» will run until September 3, 2023.
