Thanks to the tests, it turned out that the social network began to show the pages of the President of Russia, the Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy in the UK in the algorithmic feed. TASS also names the account of the Ministry of Defense among them.
Journalists have linked the removal of restrictions with the purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk. A former top manager of the network called it the consequences of the cancellation of last year's measures. “It is highly unlikely that this change was accidental or occurred without the knowledge of the company's management,” he added.
Back in 2020, Twitter began to flag media accounts that, according to the social network, are associated with the leadership of a particular country . After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the social network stopped promoting and recommending pages “owned by states that restrict access to free information and participate in armed interstate conflicts.”
